I’m Lennie, a therapist based in Merseyside, sharing life with my beautiful fluff, Aria—a Husky who fully believes she’s in my top five favourite beings of all time.

When I’m not working, I’m a self-proclaimed book dragon (yes, that’s like a bookworm, but cooler and with more fire). You’ll usually find me lost in a Kindle adventure or deep into an Audible binge—typically a fantasy novel, LitRPG, or anything that lets me escape to worlds where problems can be solved with a bit of magic or an unlimited bank account.

Growing up, I never really struggled to make new friends.Please consult above fun fact of right vibes ... i think this is largely to do with it.

In every school I attended, I had a solid group of friends, I was known for being happy, friendly, and funny (my mum still worries that "I see the world as too perfect and that it’ll get me in trouble" —honestly, sometimes it has—but please see above reference to right vibes; I don’t know what else to tell you!

 

I look back on my teenage years with a smile, but that doesn’t mean it was all easy. A house fire, an accident, some bullying—they all shook me. I felt pressure to be everything for everyone, hiding parts of myself to fit in.

Through the ups, downs, and (you guessed it) therapy, I’ve learnt how painful it is to hide who you are, and the magic of embracing who you are, flaws and all. Life isn’t about being perfect; it’s about choosing who you want to be and owning it. That’s what I want for my clients too—to find their way, at their pace, with someone in their corner for the bumps and detours

I’m not your typical therapist—and that’s a good thing. While I’ve got the qualifications and over 10 years of experience, what truly drives me is the relationship I build with each of my clients. It’s the heart of my practice. I’m here to walk with you at your pace, without judgement or pressure.

 

I’ve been on the other side of therapy too, where it felt like I was letting the therapist down if I hesitated or didn’t want to dig deep that day. That’s not how I work. Therapy is about showing up for yourself in your own way, even if that means taking breaks, changing the subject, or circling back later. It’s not a straight line—it’s a series of ups, downs, pauses, and breakthroughs. And that’s okay. I’m not here to push you; I’m here to support you, step by step.

In my experience, I’ve never been disappointed by a client. Surprised? Absolutely. Confused? Sometimes. Humbled? Often. But disappointed? Never. Because no matter what you’re dealing with, the fact that you’re showing up and trying is what matters most. Real progress happens when the process is as unique as you are.

I’ll always share my thoughts when I notice something important. Whether I’m spot-on or way off, we’ll explore it together. Therapy is a collaboration, and I’m here to follow your lead, offering perspective and guidance as we figure out what thriving looks like for you.

 

Oh, and my credentials? I received my Bachelor of Arts in Counselling at Edge Hill University and have trained in Psychodynamic Therapy and Relationship Counselling. But honestly, it’s my passion and dedication to my clients that matter most.

  • Why did you become a therapist?
    When I left high school and went to college, I was convinced I wanted to be an English teacher. It was my favourite subject, and I could easily picture myself working in a school with teenagers, helping them like I’d always helped my friends and anyone who crossed my path. College taught me a lot about myself—mainly how much I still had to figure out. Somewhere in that process, I realised I wanted to support teenagers in a deeper way. Plus, as a newly discovered dyslexic, teaching English might’ve come with some unforeseen challenges. So, much to my parents’ dismay, I announced I wasn’t going to uni to study English after all. Instead, I was going back to college to study social care and start working towards becoming a therapist. And I have never looked back .
  • What do you love most about working with teenagers?
    I don’t think there’s a more honest time in life than when you’re young. The teenage years are messy, unpredictable, and absolutely amazing. Teens challenge everything, question the rules, and aren’t afraid to call out the bullsh*t. I love that energy. Working with teenagers means helping them make sense of their world while celebrating their individuality. Whether it’s navigating school stress, figuring out who they are, or managing those big emotions, I’m here for the chaos—and the growth that comes with it.
  • How did you come up with the name ‘Unruly Therapy’?
    Because “normal” is a ridiculous concept, and “rebellion” is where the magic happens. But RebelTherapy.com was £3000+, so “Unruly” it is! Life isn’t about following rules someone else wrote—it’s about figuring out who you are, owning your quirks, and creating your own path. Therapy should feel like that too: a space to break free from expectations and embrace the messy, brilliant, rebellious parts of yourself. I started my practice working with teens in high schools. Over the years, I’ve expanded to working with the people around teenagers—parents, teachers, and other adults. I’ve also found that adults who resonate with chaos, like me, end up working with me too. I wanted a name that brought all of that together, and Unruly Therapy was born.
  • What do you do when you’re not in therapy sessions?
    I never say no to a decent cup of coffee—or three. I might also be that person you catch awkwardly dancing in the kitchen to early 2000s emo music. No shame. I read a lot! But don’t mistake this for me being “learned.” I read stories, not for my enlightenment. Self-help books only make it onto my shelf if someone recommends one as useful for clients. When I’m not reading, I’m spending time with the people who mean the world to me, getting my nails done, treating my hair to a good mask, or slapping anything Caroline Hirons tells me to on my face. It’s all about balance.
  • What’s your personal experience with therapy?
    Therapy kept me above water in college. Between dealing with epilepsy, school pressures, and trying to figure out where I fit in the world, life felt like chaos. Having someone to talk to—someone who truly got it—was life-changing. Her name was Julie, and she wasn’t a therapist, but her office was therapeutic. She gave me a space to breathe, vent, and start making sense of it all. That experience is one of the reasons I do this work. I know how scary it can be to open up, but I also know how powerful it feels to finally be heard. That’s the experience I want to give my clients.
  • What qualifications, training, and experience do you have?
    I’ve been in the counselling world for over a decade, qualifying at Edge Hill University in 2013. I added psychodynamic relationship therapy to my toolbox in 2018. My training includes working with teenagers, neurodivergent clients (like those with ADHD or ASD), gender and relationship diversity, and even pre-trial therapy for both survivors of trauma and perpetrators of crimes. I’ve worked with schools, families, and charities before going fully into private practice. Oh, and I recently completed a Clinical Supervision Certificate, so I also help other therapists find their groove. You’re in good hands—promise.
